After record high water on all our rivers in Montana I am glad to report that the Madison browns and bows are feasting on salmonflys, golden stones, yellow sallies and caddis. With the shortened days and cooler temperatures, the mayfly hatches are slowly taking over the hoppers as a prime food for our beloved salmonoid . We have taken some real brute browns on dry imitations the last two weeks under blue skies and surreal vistas on the Yellowstone.

We guided our Pennsylvania group on the Madison, Yellowstone and a private lake this week, with the fishing as variable as the weather.
